Palm Sunday

March 20, 2016

Coffee and Donuts - All parishioners and visiting guests from other parishes are invited to the Social Hall after the 10:00AM Mass today for coffee and donuts.  Access through the side door via the side alley.

Coffee and Donuts - Please Donate! - Each week Mater Dei makes a small investment in order to provide the donuts, drinks etc. for the Coffee Social.  But, our hope is that all participants will provide an appropriate donation to cover the cost of their food & drink.  These weekly socials should not be a burden to the finances of Mater Dei.  Please help so that this is not the case.

Visiting Seminarian - Joel Chute is a visiting seminarian studying at the FSSP seminary of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Lincoln, Nebraska.  He will be with us through Easter Sunday to help with the liturgical ceremonies throughout Holy Week.  Please keep Mr. Chute in your prayers as he continues his formation.

Choristers Singing - At the Easter Sunday 10:00AM Mass our usual Men’s Schola will be joined by the Choristers, our new children’s choir.  This will be the first Mass that the Choristers have sung for.

Annual Lenten Appeal - The Bishop's Annual Lenten Appeal is underway. If you have not yet done so, please fill out a pledge card and place it in the collection basket or mail it to the office. Our diocesan assessment this year is $10,000.  So far we have $5,255.  Anything excess funds will remain with Mater Dei.

Young Adult Group - Young Adults (ages 19—35) save the date: Saturday April 9th.  We will have a bonfire at 6pm.  The evening will include a talk by Fr. Flick, the Rosary and plenty of time to eat and socialize.  For more information please contact the office at Contact@MaterDeiPA.com

Hand Missals For Sale - 1962 Daily Hand Missal are available for purchase in the church office for $60.  We will offer the Missal published in 2008 by Baronius Press in association with the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter.

Warm Weather Reminder - As the warmer weather returns transients will increase.  Remember that if any needy person approaches you at St. Lawrence requesting money or another type of material aid, do not give them any. Instead, direct them to the Cathedral one block up the street towards the Capitol building.  The Cathedral is equipped to assist the needy.  We are not!  Although it may seem the charitable thing to do, please realize that by giving aid to these individuals you are encouraging them to return and hence doing a disservice to your fellow parishioners and in particular the families who should be able to bring their young children here without hesitation. Thank you.

Catechism Easter Break - There are no catechism classes on March 27th, Easter Sunday.  Classes resume on April 3rd.

Palms - Available  This Week - For those who were unable to obtain palms today, they will be available in the back of the church throughout the week, until all have been taken.
