Trinity Sunday

May 22, 2016

Coffee and Donuts - If you are visiting from another parish please feel welcome to join us after the 10:00AM Mass for coffee and donuts.  Access via the door on the side alley.

1st Communion Mass - Today, May 22nd, our children will be receiving their First Holy Communion at the 10am Mass.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Clarification—Singing by the Faithful - here is some confusion about when the faithful should  sing along with the choir and when they should not during Mass.  There are two particular times that you are encouraged to join the choir:

  • The entrance hymn at the beginning of Mass.
  • The recessional hymn at the end of Mass. Please sing!

Regarding the other pieces of chant which are sung during Mass such as the Introit and the Kyrie, do not sing along.  Those parts are more difficult to sing properly, and require the practice given to them by the choir members in order to be done as well as possible.

FSSP Priestly Ordinations - On Saturday, May 28, four of our deacons will be ordained to the priesthood  by Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz in the Cathedral of St. Cecilia’s, Omaha, Nebraska.  Please keep each of them in your prayers.

Thank You Teachers - Thanks to all of the volunteer catechism teachers who gave their time to teaching our Mater Dei children this past year.

St. Tarcisius Meeting - Our next St. Tarcisius Meeting is Saturday, June 4th at 5:00pm.  The group is for children ages 5 – 12 and meets monthly in order to train the children to meditate.  Each meeting includes a short, priest led meditation, the rosary, and a potluck dinner.  Meetings are the 1st Saturday of the month from 5-7pm.  We gather in a different host family’s home each month.  Non-parishioners are welcome to join us.  For information concerning our June meeting please contact Jill Lear at SaintTarcisiusGroup@MaterDeiPA.com

Mass Stipends - The customary stipend for a Mass is $10.  On occasion we receive Mass requests with larger stipends.  Please note that from now on whatever is given in excess of the customary $10 will go directly to the Church, rather than the priest offering that particular Mass.

Easter Duty - Every Catholic has the obligation to receive Communion at least once per year during Eastertide, which continues through Trinity Sunday.  In addition every Catholic is required to go to confession at least once per year.  Confessions are heard before each Mass.

Adoration - Friday & Saturday - Reminder: We now have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Friday evening 6:15 - 7:15pm, and Saturday morning 8:00 - 9:00am.

Memorial Day Requiem Mass - On Monday, May 30th, there will be a 9am Low Mass offered for the repose of the souls of  those who gave their lives in defense of our country.

Survey — Rosary after 10AM Mass - We are gauging interest in beginning a weekly Rosary approximately 10 minutes after the 10am Sunday Mass.  If you would be interested in staying to pray this Rosary contact Anthony DiSanto to express your interest:  Esquire@esquireassist.com.

Food for Needy - Summer Food Crisis - The Holy Name Society collects non-perishable food for the Silence of Mary homes, who distribute this food to the needy in the area.  The summer months are the time when food is most needed as children are out of school.  Recently Silence of Mary’s food supply has been running very low, making our weekly contribution very appreciated by them. Please continue to support their efforts with your weekly food offerings.

Parish Picnic—Venue Change - We will now have our Parish Picnic on Sunday, June 12, at Siebert Park in Camp Hill following the 10:00AM Mass.  Please sign up in the vestibule after Mass or during the coffee social if you plan to attend so the grille meister will have enough burgers for the crowd.  Come prepared for sports and games.  Please direct questions or offers to help to yulajj@comcast.net
