Third Sunday after Pentecost

June 26, 2022

Praised be Jesus Christ!

I want to take this opportunity of my final Sunday here to thank you all for your charity and patience with me in my first three years of being Our Lord’s priest here at St. Lawrence.  It has been a great blessing to get to know each and everyone of you, and to strive to bring you closer to Our Lord, especially through the sacraments.  This point is particularly important: that a priest exists not as an end to himself but to strive to be a mirror to the true Source of all graces and the One lasting good.  It is always about striving each day to come closer to Him (always through our Lady!) Who alone can satisfy the desires of our hearts.  I know there have been many times when I have been a poor model of the priesthood; and for those times, I ask for your forgiveness and ask that you pray for me and all priests that we may be better mirrors of Our Lord in this world.  Know that I will carry each and every one of you in my prayers at the altar wherever I go as a priest until my dying day.  May God bless you and our Lady keep you.

—Fr. Killackey

Volunteer Needed:

The cleaning of our Church is done entirely by volunteers. Besides the primary benefit of volunteer cleaning, which offers a practical way to offer thanks to God for the Mass, the sacraments, and all His Blessings, there is also the added benefit of financial savings so that church funds can be used for other projects. We now need additional helpers for all 1st Saturdays. Please contact Kristin Patterson at: clean@stlawrence.cc if you would like to know more about this important service to Our Lord, and the Parish.

Chant Camp 2022:

There is a mandatory parent volunteer meeting today in Classroom 1 following the 9am Mass. The meeting will be to ensure that all volunteers have their respective assignments and necessary clearances with a brief overview of Chant Camp by Mr. Paul Thomas May, the Music Director. The camp is scheduled for July 11-15 with the first four days to be spent learning and preparing the sacred music for an 11am Sung Mass on the Feast of St. Henry, Emperor, Confessor. We will also have lunch and sports/games at Wormleysburg Park each day. This year, our instructors will include two FSSP seminarians from Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary. There is still limited space available and registration closes on June 30.

Registration at St. Lawrence Church:

The Pastor and Assistant Pastor have the special grace to guide those who are registered parishioners and are hence assigned to their care. The Mass offered for the people every Sunday, Pro Populo, is offered for those who are registered members. Anyone seeking the Sacraments of Baptism, 1st Communion, Confirmation and Matrimony here must be registered and active parishioners for 6 months. Registration forms are available on our website.

Farewell Reception today, Sunday, June 26:

We will have a Farewell Reception for Fr. Killackey today, Sunday, June 26, at the Civic Club, 612 N Front St. following the 9am and 11am Masses. Fr. Fellow pilgrims, young and old, join in penance and in hope on the way to Our Lady’s Shrine of Martyrs, Auriesville, New York. The Extraordinary Form of the Mass is offered each day, and there are opportunities for confession, prayer, and fellowship with Catholics from around the country and around the world. Come for one day or three, for 6 miles or 60. Transportation & TLC for weary pilgrims provided along the way through majestic, autumn Adirondacks forests! This year will include a ‘Modified Pilgrimage’ for parents with young children as well as seniors (Pilgrims younger than 13 register gratis). Please note that in order to get the $80 per person group rate you must have your registration packet in the collection basket or to the Parish office by June 26 (the rate increases to $135 after June 30). If you have 3 or more people you may register on the website by July 1 for the same group rate: https://pilgrimage-for-restoration.org/fees-discounts-simplified/.
