Ordination Ceremonies at St. Lawrence - Over the course of this coming year, Brother Thomas Mary of Jesus of the Hermits of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Fairfield, PA will be receiving the Minor Orders, Subdiaconate, Diaconate and Priestly Ordination.  These ordinations will be conferred by Bishop Gainer at St. Lawrence under the direction of Fr Eichman and Fr Franco and with the assistance of our Knights of the Altar and Mater Dei choir.  This is a very unique and privileged opportunity for a parish to host these sacred ceremonies which rarely take place anywhere beside a Cathedral.

The Hermits of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a religious community with canonical status as a Roman Catholic Private Association of the Faithful under the canonical jurisdiction of the Diocese of Harrisburg. . .I encourage the support of this community’s charism, growth and apostolate.

~Excerpt from a letter by Bishop Gainer, March 5, 2018

The Hermits of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a Roman Catholic religious community that observes the eremitical Carmelite charism. Following the first hermits on Mount Carmel who, “in imitation of that holy anchorite the prophet Elijah, led solitary lives,” the charism and Constitutions of the community are based upon the observance of the Primitive Rule of St. Albert in its original character of eremitical contemplative religious life.    They make exclusive use of the Missal and other liturgical books in use prior to 1962.  For information concerning the Hermits visit: www.eremitaednmc.org.
