Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

July 3, 2022

Greetings from  our new Assistant Pastor, Fr. Cidrian Cortes, FSSP

My name is Fr. Cidrian Cortes, FSSP. I was born in Hopatcong, NJ. When I was ten, my Family  moved to Mililani, Hawaii. I am the third oldest of six children, grew up in a pious Filipino-Catholic family, and my siblings and me all received home schooling. I spent most of my childhood either on the beach or in the mountains; I grew up surfing, sailing, hiking, and enjoyed many other outdoor activities. My family still lives in Hawaii. When I was thirteen, a priest from the Institute of Christ the King introduced the Latin Mass to my Family, and we have been going regularly to the Latin Mass since I was fourteen. While in high school, Fr. Joseph Lee introduced me to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter. I also met Fr. James Fryar and Fr. Gerard Saguto around the same time. I entered the seminary right after graduating high school in 2014. During this past month, it has been an incredibly humbling experience to be able to shake the hands and see the smiles of all the faithful people that have sacrificed and prayed for my priestly vocation. I am very excited to begin working at our Fraternity Apostolate of St. Lawrence here in Harrisburg, PA. I would like to thank all of the faithful parishioners and benefactors of the Fraternity of St. Peter for their incredible generosity and their prayers. May God reward you!

Fr. Cortes, FSSP

Volunteer Needed:

The cleaning of our Church is done entirely by volunteers. Besides the primary benefit of volunteer cleaning, which offers a practical way to offer thanks to God for the Mass, the sacraments, and all His Blessings, there is also the added benefit of financial savings so that church funds can be used for other projects. We now need additional helpers for all 1st Saturdays. Please contact Kristin Patterson at: clean@stlawrence.cc if you would like to know more about this important service to Our Lord, and the Parish.

Registration at St. Lawrence Church:

The Pastor and Assistant Pastor have the special grace to guide those who are registered parishioners and are hence assigned to their care. The Mass offered for the people every Sunday, Pro Populo, is offered for those who are registered members. Anyone seeking the Sacraments of Baptism, 1st Communion, Confirmation and Matrimony here must be registered and active parishioners for 6 months. Registration forms are available on our website.

Sunday Sports today:

Parishioners gather for sports every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.  If you are interested in taking part, please email: sports@stlawrence.cc.

Welcome Reception today Sunday, July 3:

We will have a Welcome Reception for Fr. Cortes today, Sunday, July 3, at the Civic Club, 612 N Front St., Harrisburg following the 9am and 11am Masses. Please join us in welcoming Father Cortes.

Pontifical Orchestral Mass and Parish Picnic—Sunday August 7:

Bishop Gainer will preside for the Principle Mass on Sunday August 7th 11:00 am for the external solemnity of St. Lawrence’s Feast day. To compliment the solemnity of the Feast, the Mass will be accompanied with an orchestra playing Joseph Haydn’s Missa Brevis St. Joannis de Deo. This Mass setting also highlights the organ which will be played by Brian Myers, FSSP Seminarian. It will be a joyous occasion and a great blessing to have our Bishop joining us for our Patron’s Feast. Our Parish Picnic will follow immediately after the Mass (Noon until 5pm) at Roof Park, 599 Lewisberry Rd, New Cumberland. More information in coming weeks!

Mass Intentions:

Mass Intentions are filled for the remainder of the 2022 calendar year. We currently are not accepting Mass intentions. We will resume taking Mass Intentions on October 1.

Hand Missal Instruction Class:

Seminarian Brian Myers, FSSP will offer an introductory class on how to use a hand Missal after the 9:00am and 11:00am Masses on Sundays July 10 and 17 in Classroom 1. The second class will focus in particular on questions and difficulties in applying what was learned in the first. However, you may come to the second class on July 17 even if you did not attend the first. A Missal is not required, however, if you have a Missal, please bring it to class. Daily Missals by Angelus Press will be available for purchase if you would like one. Purchase price is $55.00.

2022 Diocesan Annual Appeal:
