Third Sunday after Pentecost

June 25, 2017

Coffee & Donuts - Please join us for Coffee and Donuts in the Social Hall following the 10AM Masses this morning.

Father’s Day Novena of Masses - The Father’s Day Novena of Masses which began last Sunday will continue through Monday, June 26.

New - Sunday Vespers & Adoration - Beginning July 9, we will have Vespers & Exposition from 5:30pm - 6:30pm on every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month.  As part of the Divine Liturgy, Vespers is the public prayer of the Church.  Therefore, aside from the Mass itself, participation in Vespers when it is being prayed by a priest or deacon is the most efficacious prayer that the faithful can offer to God.  Booklets will be available to follow along with the priests.

Father Franco Arrival - Father David Franco’s first Sunday at Mater Dei will be next Sunday.

Holy Land Pilgrimage With Fr. Franco - Fr. Franco will be the chaplain for a pilgrimage to the Holy Land from Nov. 26 to Dec. 9, 2017.  For information regarding itinerary, inclusions and pricing, please go to the Orbis Catholicus Travel website at www.oc-travel.com or e-mail Susan Kotnik at susankotnik@gmail.com or call her at 604-465-6911.

Volunteers Needed to Help Clean the Church - A few volunteers are needed to help clean the church.  The commitment is to help one of our rotating crews of five to six volunteers to clean for approximately two hours, once per month.  If you are willing to help please contact Elaine Rainey at Seabhj3@gmail.com

Warm Weather Reminder - Remember that if any needy person approaches you at St. Lawrence requesting money or another type of material aid they should be directed to Father who knows the regulars in the neighborhood.

Next Saturday - 1st Saturday - Next Saturday, July 1, is the first Saturday of the month.  In order to make the five first Saturdays as Our Lady requested we are required to do these four acts with the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

1) Go to Confession (on or near to the first Saturday)

2) Receive Holy Communion

3) Recite the Rosary

4) Meditate upon the mysteries of the Rosary for 15 minutes.

Our Lady promises for those who do these four acts for five consecutive first Saturdays that she will obtain for them at the hour of death the graces necessary for salvation.

St. Tarcisius - No July Meeting - Our next St. Tarcisius meeting will be on Saturday, August 5 at 6pm.

Youth Group - Saturday Morning Event - Please note: Instead of our usually meeting time, Youth Group will meet on Saturday, July 15, for the 9:00am Mass, pray a rosary for the unborn babies in front of Hillcrest and go to a nearby park for games and brunch. Please bring a friend and a food item to share. Remember: RSVP to YouthGroup@MaterDeiPA.com

Music Director Hired - We have hired Patrick Torsell to fill a new position at Mater Dei as Music Director.  He is being brought on to develop and expand our music program.  We intend to begin a mixed choir of men and women and a chorister program for Children.  He will join Mater Dei later this summer, and we are very excited by the skills, experience and enthusiasm which he will bring with him to Mater Dei.

No Sung Masses During Summer - During the summer, our 10AM Mass will be a Low Mass with hymns.  This period gives choir members a well deserved break from a regular and demanding practice schedule.  Sung Masses will begin again coinciding with the start of the new academic year this fall.

No Summer Chant Camp - We will not have a Chant Camp this summer, but plan to have one next summer.

2018 Fiscal Year Budget - Concerning next year’s budget, the 2018 fiscal year begins on July 1.  On the first Sunday of July our weekly budget will increase to $4,612.  The current  weekly budget is $3,665.

Online Giving Now Available - You can now donate to Mater Dei online.  Go to our homepage at MaterDeiPA.com and click on “Donate” or scan the QR Code below.  This is a very  easy and convenient way to make your weekly contributions.  You can make one time gifts or set up recurring gifts.  Please consider taking advantage of this way of giving during any weekends you may be away if you plan to travel this summer.
