Weekly Announcements

May 15, 2016

Coffee and Donuts – aIf you are visiting from another parish please join us after both the 10:00AM Mass for coffee and donuts.  Access via the door on the side alley.

1st Communion Mass – Next Sunday, May 22nd, our children will be receiving their First Holy Communion at the 10am Mass.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Clarification—Singing by the Faithful – There is some confusion about when the faithful should  sing along with the choir and when they should not during Mass.  There are two particular times that you are encouraged to join the choir:

  • The entrance hymn at the beginning of Mass.
  • The recessional hymn at the end of Mass. Please sing out!

Regarding the other pieces of chant which are sung during Mass such as the Introit and the Kyrie, do not sing along.  Those parts are more difficult to sing properly, and require the practice given to them by the choir members in order to be done as well as possible.

School Building / Courtyard Use – We have use of the classroom areas of the school building for events and classes.  Outside of these times, we ask parents to keep their children from roaming through the building.  However, now that the weather has warmed up, feel free to take your children into the small courtyard between the church and the school building if you would like.

Altar Frontals – The red frontal on the altar for today’s feast of Pentecost is the third of five frontals that are being made for our altar.  Thanks again to those who contributed to this project.

Survey—Rosary after 10:00AM Mass – We are gauging interest in beginning a weekly Rosary approximately 10 minutes after the 10am Sunday Mass.  If you would be interested in staying to pray this Rosary contact Anthony DiSanto to express your interest:  Esquire@esquireassist.com.

Food for Needy – Summer Food Crisis – The Holy Name Society collects non-perishable food for the Silence of Mary homes, who distribute this food to the needy in the area.  The summer months are the time when food is most needed as children are out of school.  Recently Silence of Mary’s food supply has been running very low, making our weekly contribution very appreciated by them. Please continue to support their efforts with your weekly food offerings.
