Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost

September 25, 2016

Coffeee and Donuts - All guests from other parishes are welcome to join us after the 10AM Mass for coffee and donuts.

Friday Evening Mass Time - Our Friday evening schedule has been changed to:

  • 5:30 - Simple Adoration
  • 6:30 - Mass

Vocation from Mater Dei - We have one young man from our community, James Kuniega, who has just entered our FSSP seminary in Nebraska.  Please keep him in your prayers, and pray also for the others in our parish discerning a vocation.

Seminary Burse - Beginning in October, we will have a second collection on the 2nd Sunday of each month for the FSSP seminarians in Nebraska.  These funds will help pay for the tuition for the seminarian from our community at Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton, Nebraska.  It costs the FSSP about $25,000 per year for each seminarian.  Of this amount, the seminarians are asked to raise $7,000 per year.  Our hope is that this burse will cover this for our seminarian.  Checks should be made out to “Mater Dei Community.”

St. Tarcisius Meeting - Our next St. Tarcisius Meeting is Saturday, October 1, at 5:00pm.  The group is for children ages 5 – 12 and meets monthly in order to train the children to meditate.  Each meeting includes a short, priest led meditation, the rosary, and a potluck dinner.  For information please contact us at SaintTarcisiusGroup@MaterDeiPA.com

Eichman will offer Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Lawrence.  Direct questions to Robert Charlton at 717 - 761 - 7228.  In case of inclement weather, all will take place inside St. Lawrence.

Hand Missals For Sale - 1962 Daily Hand Missals are available for purchase in the church office for $60.

Thank you - Library Facelift - As his Trail Life Service Leadership Project, Jackson Rainey recently gave our library located off of the church Social Hall a very needed facelift.  We are taking advantage of this additional usable space by now offering a new catechism class this year for our 3rd - 4th grade parishioners.  We are grateful to Jackson and everyone who assisted him with this project.

Meals for the Homeless - In the back of the church are listings of where daily meals are served for the homeless.  Note that those in need can find three meals every day within the area.  Please feel free to take one of these listings to keep in your car or to take home with you.

Directive: How to help a needy person when approached in the vicinity of St. Lawrence:

  • What not to do: Do not offer them monetary assistance or help with transportation. Unfortunately this makes you an enabler.
  • What to do: Direct the person to Fr. Eichman. Most of these people are regulars who he will already know.

Food for Needy - In the basket behind the last pew, the Holy Name Society collects non-perishable food for the Silence of Mary homes.  Our weekly contribution makes a real difference for those living in these homes. If you are looking for a way to help the hungry, please consider giving in this way.

Bishop Gainer—December 3rd Visit - Save the date: Bishop Gainer will be visiting Mater Dei on Saturday December 3rd to join us for our 1st Saturday devotions of the 8AM Holy Hour and to offer as a Pontifical Low Mass our 9AM Mass in honor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  Please make attendance a priority to show your appreciation to the Bishop and  also your support for Mater Dei.
