Fourth Sunday of Lent

March 26, 2017

Coffee and Donuts - There will be coffee and donuts after the 10AM Mass.

Annual Lenten Appeal - The Bishop’s Annual Lenten Appeal is underway. The pledge cards are in the back of the Church on the piano. There are blank cards available for those who do not have a printed card. Please fill out the pledge card and place it in the Collection basket or mail it to the Office by Sunday, April 2nd. Our Diocesan Assessment this year is $11,000.  The community must cover this amount.  Anything in excess remains with Mater Dei, so please be generous!

Sacramental Emergency Phone Line - The church phone number has not changed, but we do have a new phone system which has an extension which forwards calls directly to Father for sacramental emergencies.  Please note that the old emergency number [717-298-7179] is no longer in use.

Stations of the Cross - Stations of the Cross will be said in the church every Friday during Lent.

  • 5:00pm - Simple Adoration
  • 6:00pm - Stations of the Cross
  • 6:30pm - Mass

1st Confessions - The 1st Communion Class will be making their first Confessions after the 9am Mass on Saturday, April 1.  Please allow them to be first in line.

St. Tarcisius Meeting - Our next St. Tarcisius Meeting is Saturday, April 1, at 5pm.  The group is for children ages 5 – 12 and meets monthly in order to train the children to meditate.  Each meeting includes a short, priest led meditation, the rosary, and a potluck dinner.  Meetings are the 1st Saturday of the month from 5-7pm.  We will gather in a different host family’s home each month.  For information concerning our April meeting please contact us at SaintTarcisiusGroup@MaterDeiPA.com

Warm Weather Reminder - As the warmer weather slowly returns, transients will increase.  Remember that if any needy person approaches you at St. Lawrence requesting money or another type of material aid, please do not give them any. Instead, direct them to Father, who knows the regulars  and will be able to give them the appropriate assistance.

Modest Dress - As we enter the warmer months of the year, it is a good time for a reminder on modest attire.  While at the church, please dress modestly.  For both men and women:

  • Pants and skirts are long enough that the knees are covered when sitting.
  • The shoulders are covered.
  • No plunging necklines.
  • Clothing is not tight. Clothing is to conceal, not reveal.

These are the rules for dressing at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.  Please follow them when at St. Lawrence.  Remember that we dress at church not for our own comfort, but to present ourselves to Our Lord.

Finally: Please do not correct anyone on their attire.  If you do not approve of someone’s attire, speak to a priest about it and he will approach the person if necessary.
