June 19, 2016

Coffee and Donuts - If you are visiting from another parish please feel welcome to join us after the 10AM Mass for coffee and donuts.  Access via the door on the side alley.

Parish Picnic—Thank You - Thank you to all who gave their time and energy to making the Parish Picnic last Sunday a success.  May God reward you!

Children Chant Opportunity - Parents save the dates: from August 1 - 5 there will be an opportunity for children to learn to sing Gregorian Chant and other Sacred Music here at Mater Dei.  The weeklong event will be lead by Jonathan Kader-Kallen.  More details and registration forms are available for pick-up in the back of Church.  Registrations will be after both Masses next Sunday, June 26.

Baby Bottle Fundraiser - We are in the midst of a fundraiser for Undefeated Courage, a local Pro-Life group.  The funds raised will assist Undefeated Courage in purchasing a mobile ultrasound unit.  Empty baby bottles are in the back of church to be taken home and filled with loose change, cash, or a check, and then returned to the church by the end of June.

Rosary after 10AM Mass - For the month of July, a Rosary will be offered beginning approximately 10 minutes after the 10am Mass has finished.  This is being done on a trial basis.  Depending on the number of participants this Rosary may or may not continue after July.

Friday Evening Mass Time - Please note that the Friday evening Mass & Adoration schedule will be altered on the following days:

  • July 8th - 7:00pm Mass.  No Adoration.

All other Fridays will follow the regular schedule of 5:30pm Mass followed by Adoration until 7:15pm.

Hand Missals For Sale - 1962 Daily Hand Missal are available for purchase in the church office for $60.  We offer the Missal  published in 2008 by Baronius Press in association with the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter.

Church Cleaning - Volunteers are still needed to help clean the church.  Your commitment as a volunteer would be to help  your team of  five other volunteers to clean on one day per month (Friday evening or Saturday morning) for approximately two hours.  A sign-up sheet is in the back of church.  Thank you for your generosity.

Father’s Day Novena - The Father’s Day novena of Masses begins today and goes through June 27.

Wednesday Evening Compline - On Wednesday evenings the priests usually sing Compline (the final hour of the Breviary) following the 7:30pm Mass.  The faithful in attendance are welcome to join in singing, and books are provided.  This Wednesday evening, one of the priests will lead a 20 minute practice beginning at 7:00pm and go through a portion of the chant to be sung at Compline that night.  The practice will be held in the 2nd classroom.  Each Wednesday that we will have one of these practices it will be announced in the previous Sunday’s bulletin.

Pro-Life Federation Dinner - The PA Pro-Life Federation annual fundraising dinner is Thursday, Sept 29, 2016 at the Camp Hill Hotel Radisson.  Archbishop Charles Chaput will be the guest speaker.  Cost is $50 and checks should be made payable to Mater Dei Community and given to Christina Stoner or mailed to the Office. Our priests will be joining us.  Contact panisangelicus46@gmail.com or visit www.paprolife.org/state-events for more information.

Statute of Limitations - State lawmakers are considering legislation that would retroactively nullify the statute of limitations for filing a civil lawsuit alleging childhood abuse.  This proposed legislation would only apply to private and nonprofit organizations, but not public schools or government agencies (83% of PA students attend public schools).  A statement from the diocese regarding this is available in the back of Church.  Also, please consider visiting www.PACatholic.org to send a message to your legislator that these cases should be dealt with comprehensively and fairly.

Sacramentals for Expectant Mothers - There are certain Sacramentals in the Roman Ritual through which we request God’s blessing that an expecting mother can have a safe delivery and also the grace of having her child baptized.  The priests would be happy to provide the following to any expecting lady at her request.  Please do not hesitate to ask.

  • Blessing of Expectant Mother

Can be given at any time during pregnancy.

  • Candle in Honor of St. Raymond Nonnatus

To be taken home and burned, and especially when the time of delivery approaches.

  • St. Torellus Water

Special Holy Water which can be sprinkled, used to bless oneself, drunk, or used in small amounts in cooking.
