Legion of Mary Meeting

After our information meeting we would like to establish a Legion of Mary presidium at Mater Dei. Our meetings will initially be on Monday evenings at 7pm and last approximately one and a quarter hour. In addition there will be a two hour work assignment for active members each week and daily prayers for auxiliary members. After the first six weeks we may change the day of week based on what is best for the majority of members schedules. So if Mondays are not the best fit don’t let that discourage you! Our first meeting will take place tomorrow, Monday October  21st, at 7pm in classroom 1.

The Junior Sodality will be hosting a Young Ladies Tea on October 26th.  Girls of the parish (ages 9 -18) are invited to this morning Tea at St. Lawrence with a talk from Fr Eichman. For more details or to RSVP, please contact Jill Lear at JillLear@hotmail.com

All Saints Day Party Canceled

Our annual All Saints Party had to be cancelled for this year. Unfortunately, we had insufficient volunteers for the event. We thank those who did offer their help. With the help of new volunteers we hope to resurrect this party next year.

The Confraternity of St. Peter

The Confraternity of St Peter (CSP) is a confraternity that unites to the FSSP and helps us by their prayers, for our vocations, for our sanctification, and the work that we do.  By uniting to the FSSP they have a greater union than if they were only parishioners.  The obligations are simple: a decade of the rosary each day, the Confraternity Prayer each day, and to have one Mass offered each year for the intentions of the Confraternity.  These intentions are 1) for the sanctification of our members, 2) for vocations to the FSSP, 3) for the work the FSSP does.

The Apostolic Penitentiary, by virtue of the faculties granted to it by Pope Benedict XVI, has kindly granted the following indulgences to the members of the Confraternity of St. Peter, under the usual conditions:

1) A plenary indulgence:

  1. On the day of their admission into the Confraternity;
  2. On February 22nd, the Feast of the Chair of St Peter and anniversary of the foundation of the Confraternity;
  3. On June 29th, Feast of Saints Peter and Paul

2) A partial indulgence

  1. Whenever they partake in pious or charitable activities as members of the Confraternity.

FSSP Confraternity Prayer

Remember, O Lord, Thy congregation

Which Thou hast possessed from the beginning.

Let us pray.

O Lord Jesus, born to give testimony to the Truth, Thou who lovest unto the end those whom Thou hadst chosen, kindly hear our prayers for our pastors. Thou who knowest all things, knowest that they love Thee and can do all things in Thee who strengthenest them.

Sanctify them in Truth. Pour into them, we beseech Thee, the Spirit whom Thou didst give to Thy apostles, who would make them, in all things, like unto Thee.  Receive the homage of love which they offer up to Thee, who hast graciously received the threefold confession of Peter.

And so that a pure oblation may everywhere be offered without ceasing unto the Most Holy Trinity, graciously enrich their number and keep them in Thy love, who art one with the Father and the Holy Ghost, to whom be glory and honor forever. Amen.

Knights of the Altar Annual Raffle

The Knights of the Altar (Altar Servers) will be selling raffle tickets outside following both Masses today and next Sunday.  The tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00, and the grand prize is a saint's statue.  The winning tickets will be drawn in the social hall following Mass on Sunday, November 3.
